Dictator's tricks
Some rulers have no intention to make the world a better place. They want to rule simply to satisfy their power addiction. How did and do they manage to control millions of people? That is what I find interesting!
There are some dirty tricks of which you should be aware, to prevent becoming one of the countless victims. Here are a couple of tricks I think dictators use, written as if you're wanting to be one:
HOW TO BECOME A DICTATOR
Build a pyramid of friends
It's impossible to rule by your self, so you got to create a pyramid of "friends" to amplify your will. A pyramid where every layer fears or respects the layer above and rules over the lower levels. All friends of course get a part of the power and have less to fear, making most wanting to move up a level.
Make them love you and your plan
Tell them: you and your team of wise men got a great plan ánd the skills to realize them. Realizing your plan will benefit everybody, especially the ones who are having a hard time at this moment. The ones who abused this lovely community will do so no more; time they gave back what they stole! Anyhow; there's no better option around.
Buy them some really welcome presents, and promise much more will come, IF everybody stands up to create your beautiful new world!
Tell and give them everything they want. It doesn't really matter what, as long as your support grows and it doesn't obstruct your real plan.
Don't show them any useful evidence of the real deal.
Care for your power sources
You have to nurse the tools that provide you your control. These tools were you depend upon can be people with usable skills or things-of-people (like: technology, money, contacts, industry, fame). In all cases have you got to make these people happy, so they are motivated and join by free will. Money, sex, influence, property, jewelry, art, or just kind words. Whatever works and a good deal is.
Brainwash
Rebuilding people's minds can turn many into willing slaves, which of course is very useful. This is the most important thing to master. It's not an easy task though, it's a delicate and slow process. Great tools to access and manipulate people's brains are:
- School
- Television
- Religion
- Radio
- Newspaper
- Internet
- Books
- Posters
- Music
- Special events
- Architecture
- Statues
- Pictures on money
That's why every dictator wants to control all of that. A dictator wants his messages in your head and no disturbing information from other sources. Other sources must be filtered carefully or be eliminated, and so with the people who do not respond well enough.
Create an enemy
"This is a fight against an evil enemy that will kill you and your loved ones if you don't kill them first". If you get your people to hate an other group, they will work together better while trying to defeat the shared enemy. Also will they hate you less and support you more, after all; we're on the same side now (the good side of course). The fear for this enemy will boost production. If you own part of the military industry (including oil and other supplies) golden times lay ahead. If possible; supply your enemy also (if there really is one).
Looked at you
Demanding an impressive photo of your face being placed everywhere, will have the effect upon people of feeling watched.
Use a logo
A way to label with who is with you or against you. Place it on: products, places, events, and of course on people.
Make them fear you
Fear is a powerful motivator. Being stuck in a lousy position and risk losing most of what's left, will make people do terrible things they'd rather not do. People will always choose what seems best. Don't take everything away though, because having nothing to lose is not the right kind of motivation. There must always be hope (real or illusion).
The downsides of this method are numerous though. They will sabotage your product whenever possible. "Your people" will get ill and die without producing enough babies, which is a medium term logistical problem. And of all the people wanting to kill you, one will likely succeed someday. Enough to cause a heavy load of fear on yourself too.
Set iconic examples
Now and then kill or reward someone, but do it in such a way that everybody knows about it. The major goal of these actions is not whatever you do to I don't care who, but to get your messages into everybody's head: "I am powerful, so choose: join me and become happy, or suffer. I made that kill for you, it was your enemy. Don't worry; I will protect you, but your help is wanted and will be rewarded."
Reward the ones that betray your enemy within
For some, money is reason enough to betray the neighbors. That can be a really good deal, so use these bastards.
Abuse the religious people
If you happen to be in a country where the majority of the people is religious already, abuse that. First stimulate more people to become extreme religious, but make sure they believe in the same superior God (there are many). Next make them believe God is on your side; you are realizing God's will (God is good and almighty, and you're here, so it must be true). The devil is of course equal to your opponent. Then make it clear that they will burn in hell if not doing your thing, but will go to a beautiful afterlife if obeying. The great part of this style is that you don't have take care of the beautiful afterlife and you're not to blame for anything. If making many babies is the will of God too, then you won't easily run out of soldiers and workers.
Men: Suppress the woman
Prevent girls getting education or any kind of power. Lock them up at home to: manage the house and the kids, be nice to guests, get fucked, and make babies. The trouble with woman relative to men is: the beautiful ones distract, their emotions are hard to handle, they use uncomfortable female-logic, and they care for others. Also; as most men are at the bottom level of the power pyramid, having a wife to suppress is a great way to get rid of your bottom-men frustrations.
Use distractions
Give them something to worry about, or entertain them. Keep them dumb, a bit lazy, or confused. Do anything that will suck them empty enough, so they lack the power to oppose you.
The best method for any dictator is of course a dynamic combination of many options.
1 Person?
Can the influence of 1 person really be the cause of the suppression of millions of people, or can a country's situation be such that a dictator is "needed" -not extremely depending on who it becomes?
Facts:
- 1 person needs a lot of support to rule a country.
- Some persons can be replaced without the world changing much instantly.
- I once saw a pretty good company go down fast because of a change of the top position.
- A virus is extremely small, but if just one contains the right code, it can wipe out billions of people.
Conclusion: It's depending on the dictator's personality & plan, plus the support of many.
Good dictators...
Some leaders & dictators meant it well, but created hell anyhow.
Goals:
- Create a strong race of healthy & happy people
- Treat everybody the same, divide the wealth, together work for the good of all.
Wy did it not work well?
Ways to make it fail:
- Take away to much individual freedom.
- Take away diversity.
- Treat everybody equal.
- Cause overpopulation.
- Force people instead of getting their support.
- Ask too much.
- Give too little.
- Destroy the people and things you don't like ...might provoke an unpleasant reaction!
Signs:
- Many people start hating you and your stupid plan.
- Many people become depressed or drug addicted.
- Many people join underground activities.
- Many people get ill and die.
- Too little progress.
- Many people being bored, doing extremely crazy stuff.
- Many people fighting about really not that important issues.
- Pollution & loss of natural resources.
A single human might by definition not be fit to have so much control. It can easily turn anyone into a monster. The power addiction; always do some people tend to steal to create outrages personal wealth, not because of being poor.
Fact: it's (almost always) easier to break something then to create something beautiful. Easier to bring war than to bring peace.
A healthy goal
Personally; I'm getting so sick and tired of all that violence and injustice! Because it has always been so doesn't mean it is some law of nature... Wake up! We have a choice.
So how about someone with a great plan that can without violence get the support of many to create heaven on Earth?! What is your plan?
