Identified Flying Objects
INDEX OF ALL
The IFO Picture Library
This library is a collection of real "flying sauser" images, without much technical data or long ghost stories, just so you can see what has been made so far. There are many IFOs designed, but only a few crafts were build and only a few of them flew.
IF these old designs would be re-designed and build again using modern technologies, most of them would surely fly. There are lighter and stronger materials, more fuel efficient engines, computer designed and controlled. Today, even a cube can be made flying as if it was meant to be!
Note: be welcome, but if you have a site, blog, or whatever; please don't link to my images! Instead link to my page or copy them to your own site/computer.
About these images: I don't own any rights or originals, and I don't sell any of these images.

DISC (no VTOL)
|
|
Some aircraft look like an IFO, but don't fly like one (no VTOL). Others fly like an IFO, but don't look like one (no disc shape). Here are some aircraft that are almost an IFO: disc shaped, but not VTOL

SNECMA C450 Coléoptère
A jet powered tail-sitter ring-wing. (1955-1957)

Rotary Rocket
A single stage (SSTO) rocket system. Upon re-entry, the rotor may provide both lifting and drag forces, and also permits low velocity, controllable approaches to the landing field. (1999)

 |
Bladless jet engine design
Normal turbine engines are: heavy, complex, and very expensive. This jet engine is: light, simple, and cheap. And normal turbine engines are hard to fit in a coanda effect flying disc, while this type fits in just fine.
|
 |
Tornado generator
Searching for a tornado drive.
How to create a vortex?
No tornado in a box (that's easy).
|
 |
Curved Vortex Thrust
A thrust experiment.
Can the efficiënt system of a tornado be bent and used for flight? It seems to good to be true, but the very first experiment was no success. |

 |
VTOL DISC GN003
A thrust experiment.
The "coanda effect" at work, yes it does work!
No wings, no helicopter rotor, no propeller, no jet, no rocket.. but thrust; yes!
|
 |
VTOL DISC GN002
Goal: a mid-size disc shaped VTOL aircraft, without wings or rudders.
Specialties:
- gyro stabilized disc.
- gyro flight control.
- four ducted fans for VTOL.
- one air compressing engine system drives all devises.
|
 |
VTOL DISC GN001 and GNOO1B
Goal: a large fuel efficient disc shaped VTOL aircraft.
Specialties:
- a large rotor to create a large external airstream for VTOL.
- gyro stabilized inner "repel ring" to counter force the rotor's torque.
- controllable rotor wings for stabilization and flight control.
- a turbine gas, or electro magnetically driven rotor.
- small efficient jet engines for forward flight.

Why VTOL?
Why that disc shape?
Why is thrust important?

BEYOND LIGHTSPEED
We could travel with the speed of light, when we can turn ourselves into light, or when we code light with our information. But, the speed of light is too slow for real space exploration. How can we get from A to B much faster than light?

PRIMARY ELEMENTS
The primary basic elements are the most fundamental elements, they are the building blocks of all there is in this universe. How few are there? Just 3? |

ENERGY
|
 |
SPACE
|
 |
SHAPES
|
|
SECONDARY ELEMENTS
Secondary elements are kind of an illusion all ready, because they are build up from primary elements. |

ILLUSIONS
Misconceptions, typical human errors. Even when if a billion people share the same believe; thoughts are thoughts and not equal to reality. |
 |
TIME
There is only now. Past and Future are "properties" of the human mind.
The speed of time. |
 |
SPEED
Speed is no property of mass.
Speed is always relieve.
There is no such thing as "fast air".
An aircraft doesn't have speed.
Is space a fixed medium to which mass has a relieve speed? Or is there no speed limit? |

GAS IN MOTION
|
 |
WINGS
How do wings work?
The popular explanation is false!
How do wings really work? |
 |
VTOL WING
How to build a wing that works while NOT in forward flight.
Take off and land vertical, just about anywhere.
How to design that save and energy efficient. |
 |
THE COANDA EFFECT One of the most common ways to design a VTOL disc, is by using the Coanda effect. It's clear that it works, but how exactly does it work well?

AERODYNAMICS
Wow, this is complex. As old as the wind, and still full of mysteries. Implosion and Vortex are two faces, interesting for VTOL. |
 |
ROCKETS
Ah, rockets. Very impressive, the only option for thrust in space at this time. But I don't see a bright future for this type of thrust. Dangerous, noisy, expensive, heavy, poluting, and far to slow for real space exploration. |
